What is Yoga for Ages 11-14?

As children transition from the nurturing environment of primary school to the bustle of secondary school they can often feel rather overwhelmed.

Children can derive huge benefits from yoga which has been shown to improve their concentration, increase their sense of calmness and their ability to relax as well as the physical benefits of building strength, promoting flexibility and enhancing coordination.

In this 1 hour yoga session, students will be encouraged to connect with their mind and their body. They will learn strategies to reduce anxiety whilst enhancing their physical health in a fun and uplifting environment. Ultimately they will be developing positive habits for life.

What do I need to bring?

All equipment and drinking water is provided but should you wish to bring your own water bottle a water filter machine is available for refills. Please help us to protect the environment by not using single use plastic bottles.

Please wear comfortable clothes (no belts or zips please as they can make some exercises uncomfortable and damage our mats!).

Make sure the clothes you wear are not too baggy, however, as we need to look at your form.

“I found the yoga session relaxing because Jen had a calm way of speaking and teaching us. We tried yoga poses, a mindfulness activity and some feather work. After the yoga was over I felt relaxed, calmer and my mind felt empty which is a good thing because I wasn’t stressing about anything or worried as I was in a safe space. I can’t wait to do my next yoga class with Jen at SPACE.“ BEATRICE Age 11
